At the Midwest Sports
Medicine Institute, we recognize that staying active is a key component
of staying healthy. Both quantity and quality of life are impacted
by the presence or absence of regular exercise.
Keeping you active is our top
priority
Whether your goal is improving your
time in an Ironman Triathlon, continuing your weekly tennis matches, or
taking daily walks, we provide information and care that is state of the
art. We believe that top quality care depends on specialty
training, a commitment to staying current with the sports medicine
literature, effective communication, and treating you as a person.
Musculoskeletal Ultrasound
Our clinic now utilizes
musculoskeletal ultrasound as a diagnostic tool and for accurate needle
placement during injections. A wide variety of musculoskeletal
disorders are visible by ultrasound, including tendon tears (including
rotator cuff), certain ligament injuries, and tendinosis.
Ultrasound imaging allows accurate injection for the treatment of a wide
variety of problems. Without ultrasound guidance, it has been
estimated that a significant percentage of injections miss the joint and
are therefore wasted. |

New developments in
our understanding of hyponatremia have allowed improved treatment and
prevention of this potentially fatal disorder in endurance athletes.
